Justin Hastings is an Assistant Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Sam Nunn School of International Affairs. His research centers on the connections among globalization, technology, and the political and economic geography of clandestine transnational organizations. He studies nonstate nuclear proliferation networks, terrorists, insurgents, maritime pirates, and smugglers, particularly in China and Southeast Asia. He has been affiliated with the Institute for Defense and Strategic Studies in Singapore, and has worked for the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the Institute for Defense Analyses, and the Department of Defense. He holds a PhD in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.
