Economic Impact of the Covid-19 Outbreak on Developing Asia
The Covid-19 pandemic is severely impacting Southeast Asian economies, but the full depth and magnitude remain unknown given uncertainty about the trajectory and timeline of containment efforts in the region and globally. On April 29, 2020, the Chairman’s Council convened an exclusive meeting at which Jennifer Dotson (NBR) moderated a virtual discussion with Meredith Miller, Senior Advisor for the National Bureau of Asian Research and Principal for Albright Stonebridge Group, and Dr. Yasuyuki Sawada, Chief Economist of the Asian Development Bank.
“Dr. Sawada presented all the facts and statistics in a very current format, and Meredith Miller was extremely informative as well. The fact that this discussion brought together some 45 participants from four time zones, ranging from Washington, D.C., to Manila, made this event particularly rewarding. As an NBR Chairman’s Council member, I look forward to future events of this caliber in the ever-changing Indo-Pacific theater.”
