Gorton Center Global Leaders
This year’s Sally Gorton Leadership Award Winner, Elena Swartz (UW), is living in Kathmandu, Nepal as a member of the Henry Luce Scholars program. Desiree Phair (UW Law), recipient of the first GLP Special Award for Outstanding Writing, is studying for the Bar Exam next week—wish her luck!
Other graduates of our most recent GLP class (2016/17) are busy as well. Here are some we’ve heard from: Grant Beckett (UW) has accepted a position as technical recruiting coordinator with VitalSource IT in Bellevue; Lane Covington (UW) is Public Relations and Communication Director for the King County Republican Party; Bruno Fiorentini (UW) is our Gorton Center Assistant as he enters his senior year at the Jackson School; Cesar Garcia (UW) is an Administrative Specialist at King County Department of Public Defense; Anne-Celine Jeffroy-Maynard (SU) is leading an immersion trip to France with students from Seattle Prep; Sara Kang (SPU) is working on the national “Housing not Handcuffs” campaign for the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty in Washington D.C.; Helena Kerr (SPU) is at Princeton for the 2017 Junior Summer Institute hosted by The Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs; Leah Li (UW) is interning at VMware in Washington DC; Johnny Merolla (Northeastern) will be a communications associate with Minerva Strategies in Seattle; Julie Michlal (UW) is traveling abroad for the next several months; Alissa Neuman (SU) will work at an environmental law firm in downtown Seattle for the next year; Tyler Pichette (UW) is Legislative Aide for King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer; Marciano Quinonez (UW) is a legal assistant in the US Attorney’s Office. Ben Robbins (UW Law) will serve as a judicial clerk for Judge Edward F. Shea in the District Court of the Eastern District of Washington.
