China Standards and Innovation Policy Initiative Working Papers

As of July 2011, four working papers have been published as part of a joint initiative between NBR and the East-West Center, “China Standards and Innovation Policy in the Global Knowledge Economy: Core Issues for China and the United States.” Under the direction of Project Principal Investigator Dr. Dieter Ernst (East-West Center), this multi-year initiative examines the international dimensions of China’s standards and innovation policies, as well as the challenge of reconciling national policies with international standards. To inform and strengthen the findings of these papers, the initiative convened an invitation-only workshop that brought together more than fifty high-level experts from industry, academe, and policymaking for a discussion of China’s industrial policies and the implications for global stakeholders in 2009. The project has also resulted in a series of top-quality publications and dozens of briefings for government and industry leaders in both the United States and China.
