Jennifer Oetken is a Bridge Award Fellow at NBR.

As a Fellow, Ms. Oetken participates in a variety of activities that support individual projects and institutional initiatives, including research, writing, and outreach efforts.

Ms. Oetken is a doctoral student with the Department of Political Science at Indiana University, Bloomington. She was a 2007–08 Boren Fellow in India, where she studied Bengali and conducted field research for her dissertation. Her fields of study were International Relations, Comparative Politics, and India Studies.

Ms. Oetken’s publications include “Transformation of Kashmir’s Insurgency: Azaadi to Global Salafi” in Terrorism: Patterns of Internationalization (2009); “Counterinsurgency Against Naxalites in India” in India and Counterinsurgency: Lessons Learned (2009); and a co-authored article with Manjeet S. Pardesi, “Secularism, Democracy, and Hindu Nationalism in India” in Asian Security (2008).
