A Celebration of Korean Culture and the 70th Anniversary of the ROK-U.S. Alliance

The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR) welcomed Congressional staff and members of the Washington policy community on October 12, 2023, for a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the ROK-U.S. alliance and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Korea, held at the Old Korea Legation Building in Washington, D.C. Attendees enjoyed catered Korean food, traced the evolution of Korean architecture and design, experienced a private tour of the Old Legation Building, and met fellow policy professionals with an interest in the Indo-Pacific and Korea. Remarks were given by NBR President Roy Kamphausen, ROK Minister for Public Diplomacy Kim Hakjo, and Suzie Kim, associate professor of art history at the University of Mary Washington.
