Arsalan Ahmed is an Intern with the Energy and Environment Affairs group at NBR. Prior to joining NBR, Arsalan worked with various state and congressional political leaders in North Carolina addressing issues in climate change and human trafficking impacting communities in Charlotte, as well as justice and educational reform. He also volunteered his time supporting AAPI communities by engaging with several AAPI civic organizations. Alongside these experiences, he earned his undergraduate degree in 2021 from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte studying Political Science. He also competed in various Model United Nations competitions and earned awards addressing U.S.-China competition and microplastics.

Arsalan is currently a graduate student at George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs, pursuing a master’s degree in Security Policy Studies and concentrating in Transnational Security. His interests lie in emerging issues and regions, especially security in Southeast Asia. He speaks Spanish and Urdu at an intermediate-high level and is learning Indonesian.
