U.S.-China Environmental Engagement: Challenges and Strategic Opportunities

On May 5, 2016, the Slade Gorton Policy Center hosted a panel discussion on the rise, impact, and goals of environmental engagement between China and the United States, particularly in the state of Washington. In this policy discussion, various projects were discussed, including lessons learned from the recently withdrawn application to build a methanol plant in Tacoma by Northwest Innovation Works, a China-backed company.

This program was planned and developed by the students of the Gorton Center Global Leaders Program, a year-long leadership development program for undergraduate, graduate, and law students from the Puget Sound area.

The roundtable discussion was moderated by former U.S. Senator Slade Gorton.
