2023 Pacific Energy Summit

International Trade and the Energy Transition

The 2023 Pacific Energy Summit built on previous years’ discussions to examine how international trade and economic policy will influence the energy security and low-carbon transitions of Indo-Pacific nations. The United States was the host of several Asia-Pacific Economic Corporation (APEC) ministerial meetings in Seattle in August. The central themes included “creating a resilient and sustainable future for all and building an interconnected, innovative, and inclusive Asia-Pacific region.” Held alongside these meetings from August 17 to 18, the Summit brought together leading experts, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the Indo-Pacific for an impactful discussion on balancing energy transitions with energy security in a complex geopolitical arena.
