Sanghoon Kim is a Korea Foundation Research Fellow with the Political and Security Affairs group at NBR. In this position, he supports research, publications, and events for Political and Security Affairs projects.

Prior to joining NBR, he worked as a program assistant at the Ilmin International Relations Institute (IIRI) in South Korea and as a Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) officer for three years. Mr. Kim’s main areas of interest are the U.S.-ROK alliance, nuclear extended deterrence, and maritime security.

Mr. Kim is pursuing an MA in international studies from Korea University Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) and has a BA in political science from Korea University.
