Eliza Young is an intern with the Political and Security Affairs team at NBR. She provides administrative and research support for the Maritime Awareness Project, PLA conferences, and Taiwan portfolio.
Ms. Young received her MA from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in U.S. foreign policy and international economics with a minor in China studies. Before attending SAIS, she studied Mandarin at the International Chinese Language Program in Taipei, Taiwan, and the Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Studies in Beijing, China. She also interned at the National War College, where she revised lesson plans for midcareer defense officials. Previously, Ms. Young worked as an elementary school teacher and received the Highly Effective Teaching Award for her work with immigrant students in Washington, D.C. She received her bachelor’s in education from Baylor University.
