U.S.-China Trade and Economic Relations

On February 22, 2017, a congressional staff briefing held at Rayburn House Office Building on U.S.-China Trade and Economic Relations was hosted by NBR and the US-China Business Council (USCBC) in conjunction with the Congressional U.S.-China Working Group.

China is the largest provider of U.S. imports and one of the largest markets for U.S. exports. It also owns a large portion of U.S. debt and contributes significantly to the U.S. global trade deficit. In addition, China itself is in a period of economic change, which also affects global markets. This briefing addressed the challenges and opportunities in the U.S.-China economic and trade relationship as well as in the Chinese economy in 2017.
