The Next Phase of U.S.-ROK Cooperation

NBR and the Korea Energy Economics Institute (KEEI) presented “Strengthening Climate and Cleaner Energy Partnerships: The Next Phase of U.S.-ROK Cooperation” on May 17, 2016.

The United States and the Republic of Korea have a robust relationship, and the Park and Obama administrations have advanced momentum in forging new opportunities for energy cooperation. This collaboration has been successful in supporting common interests on strengthening the role of cleaner fuels in the energy mixes of the Asia-Pacific, renewing a civil nuclear cooperation agreement, and supporting the development of cleaner technologies. The Republic of Korea has been reviewing and altering its national policies and continues to find new avenues to bolster its global contribution to clean energy innovation. As the United States enters an election season that will bring in a new administration and Congress, building on past cooperation will require dedicated leadership on both sides.
