Congressman Dicks was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1976 where he rose in the ranks to hold significant leadership positions, including chair of the Interior Appropriations Subcommittee; chair of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee; and, at retirement, serving as the ranking member on the full House Appropriations Committee. During his 37-year career, Congressman Dicks worked tirelessly on issues relating to the U.S. military & military families, the aerospace industry and the environment.

The event was moderated by former U.S. Senator Slade Gorton and was attended by policy makers, business executives, non-profit leaders, congressional staff members, professors, and students.
