The Kenneth B. and Anne H.H. Pyle Center
for Northeast Asian Studies

The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR) established the Kenneth B. and Anne H.H. Pyle Center for Northeast Asian Studies to advance the comprehensive study of the affairs of the region, particularly as they pertain to the security, political, and economic dynamics of the United States. The Pyle Center serves as the organizing institution for NBR's Northeast Asia-oriented projects and programs. The Center is named in honor of NBR's Founding President, Dr. Ken Pyle and his wife Anne.

The Pyle Center was dedicated at a black tie dinner on November 17 in Seattle. A two-day accompanying conference entitled Pursing Security in a Dynamic Northeast Asia provided the substantive component to the Pyle Center dedication. Conference panelists and participants looked ahead to identify and analyze the underlying forces and long-term issues that will shape the security architecture, and ultimately, the stability, of what is arguably the world's most dynamic and important region.
