Executive Assistant Opening

Position Description: The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR), a Seattle-based nonprofit, is seeking an Executive Assistant. The Executive Assistant provides administrative support for NBR’s President and Senior Vice President, Institutional Development and is also an integral part of the Institutional Development team. This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position. The position is available immediately, and salary is commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee the Office of the President and serve as the primary point of contact for the President and Senior Vice President, Institutional Development
Serve as a liaison between the President and the Institutional Development department
Communicate with internal staff, board members, funders, and NBR affiliates
Act as the primary non-executive staff liaison to the institution’s board of directors and board of advisors; provide any necessary administrative support to NBR’s board
Manage the President and Senior Vice President’s calendars
Arrange meetings, appointments, and travel schedules
Prepare meeting materials, agendas, correspondence, memoranda, etc.
Coordinate special projects and events
Maintain the hardcopy and the electronic filing system for the President
Handle a variety of assignments involving confidential information where discretion must be used
Complete other administrative duties such as answering phones, faxing, mailing, running errands, etc. as necessary
Qualifications: A successful candidate must possess superior organizational and communication skills, and the ability to efficiently and effectively manage a wide range of disparate tasks and responsibilities. Discretion and confidentiality are critical for this position. One or more years of relevant professional experience desirable. A two year commitment preferred.

Institutional Development Internship Opening

Department Description: Institutional Development is a dynamic and high-energy department within The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR). The department generates the resources NBR needs to both carry out its mission and to expand the institution’s base of supporters. It does through donor cultivation and stewardship, and by activities pertaining to NBR’s annual fund campaign, planned giving, endowment and capital campaigns, corporate and leadership councils, and institutional marketing.
Position Description: NBR is recruiting an undergraduate- or graduate-level intern for a paid, part-time (approx. 10-15 hours per week) position to support the Institutional Development department in accomplishing a range of projects and activities. This is an hourly, non-exempt position.
Overall responsibilities:
Conducting donor prospect research
Preparing materials to support project specific fundraising campaigns
Maintaining Institutional Development’s physical and electronic files
Maintaining and updating project databases; data entry and research for institutional and project databases and reports
Assisting with other special events and activities
Sharing the responsibility, along with other NBR interns and project associates, for answering incoming calls to the organization and handling them appropriately
Providing general administrative support as needed
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will demonstrate keen attention to detail, have excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills, outstanding computing skills, and work well individually and as part of a team. Applicants must be working toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree at the time of application.
