John D. Gass has served NBR's Board of Directors since 2006. He is a vice president of Chevron Corporation and president of Chevron Global Gas (CGG). In this capacity he is responsible for the company’s global natural gas business. CGG plays a key role in Chevron's strategic plans to commercialize its existing natural gas resource base and in enabling the creation and development of new natural gas growth opportunities worldwide. Mr. Gass also oversees Chevron's shipping company and pipeline operations. CGG has oversight of Chevron’s participation in the Sasol Chevron gas-to-liquids joint venture.
A native of Key Biscayne, Fla., he graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1974, with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He later earned a master's degree in civil engineering from Tulane University in 1980.
Mr. Gass is on the board of directors of GS Caltex Corporation, and of Sasol Chevron, a 50-50 joint venture with Sasol Ltd. He serves on a variety of industry and civic organizations, and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
