Engaging Asia 2011: The 112th Congress and Post-Crisis Asia

NBR hosted "Engaging Asia 2011: The 112th Congress and Post-Crisis Asia" on March 30, 2011, in Washington, D.C. This half-day conference assembled high-level experts from government, military, diplomatic, and academic arenas to offer insights into the many dynamics affecting U.S. interests in the region.

Featured speakers included Ambassador Ron Kirk, U.S. Trade Representative; Congressman Rick Larsen (WA-02); Rear Admiral Scott Swift, U.S. Pacific Command; and Minister Akira Chiba from the Embassy of Japan. The event also included a critical analysis of the recent NBR publication Aftershock: The 112th Congress and Post-Crisis Asia, which examines the 112th Congress and the key policy issues in Asia that it will face, featuring authors Edward Gresser (ProgressiveEconomy) and Daniel Twining (The German Marshall Fund of the United States).

NBR would like to thank Chevron and Microsoft for their generous support.
